Traveling with kids solo!

The girls and I traveled to Jamaica for my brothers wedding. Originally my mother was supposed to travel with us but due to health issues she couldn’t come. This was my girls first time out of the country and my first time traveling with them by myself. My mom has always traveled with us so I was a bit anxious to say the least.

My girls are 4 and 8 so they did pretty well. My oldest Blake helped a lot with my youngest Zoey so that was a major plus. The first thing I would recommend when traveling with kids is a backpack for everyone for your small carryon. Blake & I had a backpack but Zoey didn’t so coming back we ended up carrying all of Zoey’s stuffed animals and whatever other trinkets she picked up along the way. If you can manage it only use carryon size luggage. It will save you a lot of time and frustration. Blake’s bag was a bit large and with a full flight they made us check it every time. It was free but still not ideal when you’re with children and just want to grab your things and go. Next I would recommend lots of snacks. On our way back we were delayed 9 hours 😩 (I don’t recommend flying american) if I had snacks on hand I would have saved a lot of money.

You want to be as prepared as possible especially with the possibility of getting delayed so bring a battery pack with you for the kids tablets and your phone. I ended up buying one to get us through the delay. With so many flights being delayed you’ll be lucky if you can find an open outlet. I hadn’t started using arbonne products at that point but if I had a fizz would have been perfect for that natural boost of energy because airport coffee is the worst lol 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣. I will post a blog about the wonderful world of arbonne later 😉. Fell free to check their products out here:

Next up seating! We didn’t have seats all together during all of our flights. Don’t even bother paying extra to be all together. When people see a family with kids they are more than happy to switch seats. I almost paid extra for us to be all together but people were super nice and it worked out just fine. Finally if your flight is delayed like ours just relax and go with it. It’s very hard especially for me with my high anxiety but at a certain point I just threw my hands in the air and said it is what it is. The kids ran all over the airport and did gymnastics everywhere but it was fine lol.

I hope this post is helpful and if there is anything else travel related you would like me to share please let me know in the comments!

Happy Travels,
